Eftsure extends vendor verification to mainland China for US finance teams

U.S. finance teams can now independently verify the bank details of vendors in mainland China before paying them, using the same Eftsure workflow they use for domestic and other international vendors.

The expansion adds one of the largest U.S. sourcing markets to Eftsure's existing verification process, helping finance teams reduce manual checks, strengthen payment controls and pay international suppliers with greater confidence.

China is still a major vendor market for US companies

The U.S. imported $308.7 billion in goods from China in 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. While that's a significant decrease from 2024, a shift of that size shows up in the vendor master file as there are new vendors to onboard, existing contracts to renegotiate and bank detail change requests to confirm.

Verifying a vendor in mainland China takes more work than verifying a domestic one. Callbacks have to be scheduled across a 12-to-16-hour time difference. Businesses in mainland China are registered under Chinese legal names, which often differ from the English names on invoices and contracts. Matching those details accurately requires a process built around local registration requirements.

When deposits are due or production schedules are tight, those extra steps slow approvals. They also leave AP teams less sure the payment is going to the right account. The challenge isn't the suppliers themselves. It's ensuring finance teams have the right verification controls in place, regardless of where those suppliers operate.

How China verification works in Eftsure

With Eftsure's expanded International Verification coverage, finance teams can now verify suppliers in mainland China through their existing onboarding and payment workflows.

When a new supplier is added or an existing supplier changes their bank details, Eftsure validates the account against bank-network data and matches it to the registered business using its Unified Social Credit Code, the unique registration identifier issued to businesses in mainland China.

The verification result appears in the same Eftsure workflow used for domestic and international suppliers, giving finance teams a consistent process for managing payment risk.

If the available data can't confirm a match, Eftsure's specialist fraud analysts investigate further, reducing the need for AP teams to coordinate manual callbacks themselves.

Once onboarded, suppliers are subject to ongoing monitoring, helping teams identify bank detail changes that require further verification before payment.

Eligible verified payments to China-based suppliers are also backed by the Eftsure Guarantee, subject to standard terms and conditions.

And because China verification works within Eftsure's existing platform, ERP and AP integrations, there's no separate system or onboarding process for finance teams to manage.

What this means for US finance teams

One standard for every vendor. Onboarding a vendor in Shenzhen follows the same verification workflow as onboarding one in Chicago.

Fewer manual checks for AP. Automated verification and specialist follow-up replace overnight callbacks and back-and-forth over documents.

Evidence before approval. Controllers and CFOs can approve international payments with independent verification on record, rather than relying only on bank details the vendor supplied.

A documented audit trail. A record of how each vendor's bank details were checked supports internal controls testing, external audits and board reporting.

"Business payments don't stop at borders, and neither do the people trying to misdirect them. Our goal at Eftsure is to provide our customers with a trusted way to verify payees across their global supply chain. By adding verification of payees in China, we are continuing to expand our verification coverage globally and wherever our customers do business," said Ramesh Menon, Eftsure's Chief Product Officer.
