Eftsure expands supplier verification to China, helping Australian businesses pay with confidence

Eftsure expands supplier verification to China, helping Australian businesses pay with confidence

Australian businesses can now independently verify the bank details of suppliers in mainland China before making payments, using the same Eftsure workflow they already trust.

The expansion brings one of Australia's most important supplier markets into Eftsure's existing verification process, helping finance teams reduce manual checks, strengthen payment controls and pay international suppliers with greater confidence.

Australia's biggest import market deserves the same payment controls

China is Australia's largest source of imported goods and services. In 2025, imports from China rose 12.5% to A$130.2 billion, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

For Australian businesses sourcing goods from China, that represents a significant volume of supplier payments. Yet independently verifying international bank details isn't always straightforward.

Traditional methods like phone callbacks can be difficult to coordinate across borders. Differences in time zones, languages and business registration systems can add complexity, particularly when onboarding new suppliers or confirming changes to existing bank details.

For example, businesses in mainland China are registered under Chinese legal names, which may differ from the English names used on invoices and other documents. Matching those details accurately requires a verification process that accounts for local registration requirements.

When deposits are due or supply schedules are tight, these additional checks can slow approvals and create uncertainty about whether the payment is going to the intended account.

The challenge isn't the suppliers themselves. It's ensuring finance teams have the right verification controls in place, regardless of where those suppliers operate.

How Eftsure's China verification works

With Eftsure's expanded International Verification coverage, finance teams can now verify suppliers in mainland China through their existing onboarding and payment workflows.

When a new supplier is added or an existing supplier changes their bank details, Eftsure validates the account against bank-network data and matches it to the registered business using its Unified Social Credit Code, the unique registration identifier issued to businesses in mainland China.

The verification result appears in the same Eftsure workflow used for domestic and international suppliers, giving finance teams a consistent process for managing payment risk.

If the available data can't confirm a match, Eftsure's specialist fraud analysts investigate further, reducing the need for AP teams to coordinate manual callbacks themselves.

Once onboarded, suppliers are subject to ongoing monitoring, helping teams identify bank detail changes that require further verification before payment.

Eligible verified payments to China-based suppliers are also backed by the Eftsure Guarantee, subject to standard terms and conditions.

And because China verification works within Eftsure's existing platform, ERP and AP integrations, there's no separate system or onboarding process for finance teams to manage.

What this means for Australian finance teams

For businesses with established supplier relationships in China, the expansion offers a more consistent way to manage verification across their supplier base.

The same verification standard, wherever you pay. Onboarding a supplier in Shenzhen can now follow the same verification workflow as onboarding one in Brisbane, with independent checks supporting payment decisions.

Less manual work for AP teams. Automated verification and specialist follow-up reduce reliance on phone callbacks and manual documentation, helping teams spend less time chasing confirmations.

Greater confidence before payments leave. Finance leaders can review international payments with independent verification evidence, rather than relying solely on supplier-provided bank details.

Stronger oversight and auditability. A documented verification process helps finance teams demonstrate how supplier bank details were checked, supporting internal controls, audits and board reporting.

"China is one of the most important sourcing markets for businesses across Asia-Pacific, yet independently verifying who you're paying across borders isn't always straightforward," said Andy Thiss, Eftsure's SVP and GM, APAC.

"Expanding Eftsure's verification capabilities into mainland China is a significant step forward. Businesses shouldn't have to compromise on payment security simply because their suppliers operate overseas.

"Our ambition is simple: make every payment a trusted payment, whether it's going to a supplier down the road or halfway around the world."
